The credentialing standard for professional speaking.
The Texas Institute of Public Speaking (TIPS) exists to do three things, in order: train speakers properly, certify them honestly, and provide platforms where certified voices are heard.
Why TIPS exists
Anyone can claim to be a speaker. Event organisers, schools, companies and churches needed a way to know — and speakers needed a standard worth rising to. TIPS is that standard: a Texas-based institute whose certification is earned by examination, never bought, and never given for attendance.
Why certification?
Because anybody can call themselves a speaker. Very few can prove they meet a standard. The TIPS Certification exists so that event organisers, churches, companies and conferences can look at one list and know: these speakers are certified. That list is the Certified Speakers Roll — and the first seven names go on it this year.
What we do
- Train — structured courses and programmes that build voice, structure, delivery and stagecraft.
- Certify — a formal examination, numbered certificates, and a public registry anyone can verify.
- Provide platforms — stages, conventions and showcases where certified speakers are put to work.
From Texas to the world
TIPS is headquartered in Texas, USA, and delivers internationally through licensed partners. In Cameroon, the TIPS Certification is delivered under licence by CANASA (the Cameroon National Speakers Association), where the first examined cohort receives its certificates on stage at the CANASA National Speakers Convention.
