What certification requires

Award: Certified Professional Speaker (CPS), issued by TIPS.

Two ways in

Progression: complete the Certified Emerging Speaker (CES) program and continue directly into CPS, paying only the CPS tuition.

Direct entry: experienced speakers may apply for direct entry with evidence of their speaking practice, or by placement assessment. If the application is approved, you enter CPS without first completing CES. Applicants who do not yet meet the direct-entry standard are offered the appropriate preparatory training instead.

No certification is granted on the basis of experience alone. Direct entry admits you to the program — every CPS candidate, however experienced, must still complete the required modules, pass the knowledge examination, and pass the practical assessment.

Your next step

CPS is complete in itself — a professional credential for a working speaker. Graduates who go on to train and coach others continue to the Academy's advanced level, the Certified Professional Trainer & Coach (CPTC).

Applications open with the Academy's 2027 intake. Admissions enquiries: [email protected].
